The Tian Zhu Day

The 6th day of the 6th lunar month is also the day, which means presenting something for free, as well as Aunt's Day . This Day originated from Zhen Emperor in the Song Dynasty . On the 6th day of the 6th lunar month, he claimed that he was presented a heaven oracle and hence set that day as TianZhu Day and had a great TianZhu palace built in Tai Temple at the foot of the Tai Mountains. People in some places still remain the TianZhu celebration. In DongTai county of Jiangsu Province, on that morning all families say good wishes to each other and eat a kind of glutinous rice blocks made of flour and sweet oil. Also on that day all the families will air their clothes in the sun ,especially in areas to south of the Yangtze River people must take out the clothes from the cases to air them lest they go moist . In some places it is interesting to wash cats and dogs together.

That day is also a Buddhist Festival ,called Translating Canon Festival. It is said that when the Tang monk came back from the west with the Buddhist Canons, he dropped all of them carelessly into the sea. He hurried to recover them and air them in the sun so that he could keep them intact. So all the canons must be aired in all temples on that day.
